Job Title: Staff Accountant (with Lead/Supervisory Experience)
Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Accountant with demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience to support our accounting operations. This role is responsible for performing key accounting functions, ensuring accuracy and compliance, and providing guidance to junior accounting team members. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and experienced in supporting the month-end close process while contributing to continuous process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily accounting functions including journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
- Support and lead components of the month-end and year-end close processes.
- Review and approve work prepared by junior accounting staff, providing coaching and direction as needed.
- Assist with the preparation of financial statements, reports, and schedules.
- Monitor accounting procedures to ensure compliance with GAAP and internal company policies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (AP, AR, Payroll, Operations) to resolve discrepancies and improve workflow.
- Participate in audits by preparing documentation and supporting auditors as required.
- Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Serve as a point of contact for escalated accounting inquiries.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- 3-5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 1-2 years in a lead or supervisory role.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and standard accounting practices.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or similar).
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, formulas).
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across teams.
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
